Each of us have complicated ways of protecting ourselves from being vulnerable, and often those self-protective habits are outside of our awareness. Couples therapy brings these habits into awareness and teaches you the skill of remaining kind and open-hearted toward yourself and your partner, even in the face of painful emotions such as anxiety and sadness. Becoming aware of your habits of disconnection and choosing to do things another way is an unfolding process.
If you are interested in meeting with me, I suggest we meet for an initial session in which we will discuss your current struggle. This session will also help you get a sense of my style. Depending upon where you live, we can have an online or in person session. If you choose to continue, we will complete a more extensive intake over a period of about three sessions. After the intake, we will agree on some goals and begin working.
I am certified in both Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and Imago Relationship Therapy.
I can be contacted at 415-336-5343. You may also reach me from the contact form. (Therapy patients, please note all HIPAA Compliant communications should be done through the phone number listed above.)
